Kirsten Childs
Kirsten Childs (1943-2016) was an interior designer and the former Director of Facilities Planning & Interior Design at Croxton Collaborative Architects. Childs was honored as the 2010 Designer of Distinction by ASID for her lifetime of contributions to the profession of interior design and to the field of sustainable design. The recognition is the highest honor that ASID bestows on one of its members.
Childs’ projects, including the Audubon House Headquarters in New York City and the EPA Headquarters in Washington, DC, among many others, were foundational to green model programs such as LEED, formalizing a new greener and more sustainable design approach. Her leadership in green building design is reflected in the seminal book on Audubon House.
